S.S.S. Company Donates 168 Units of Curasore to Lanier High School Wrestling Team

Wrestling is tough on athletes in a lot of ways—including their skin. Between physical contact on the mat and the stress of competition, cold sores and skin irritation pop up way more often than people realize.

Last year, we sponsored the Lanier High School wrestling team here in Sugar Hill, Georgia, and built a great relationship with the school. So recently, when we realized we had a batch of Curasore nearing its expiration window, the decision was simple: rather than letting good product go to waste, we wanted to give it away to people who could actually use it.

168 Bottles Headed to Lanier High

We packed up 14 cases (168 total bottles) of Curasore and delivered them to Lanier High. Because of our existing relationship with the school, we were able to extend the donation beyond the athletic department—making bottles available to teachers, staff, and students across the entire campus.

A nice behind-the-scenes touch: the cases were packed up by Caspian, who works with us at S.S.S. Company (and happens to be the son of our Corporate Secretary, April Bowers). It was great having someone from our team pack up a donation headed right down the road to local students and staff.

Why Wrestling (and Braces) Make Cold Sores Worse

If you've never been around high school wrestling, it might seem like a random sport for a cold sore product, but wrestlers are actually at a high risk for skin issues. Close contact on the mat, long hours of training, and physical stress make flare-ups common.

There's also another trigger a lot of people overlook: braces. Students with orthodontic hardware deal with constant friction inside their lips, which easily irritates the tissue and triggers outbreaks.
